Welcome to Miracle for Ross!
Ross's Story
In November, 2008, five-year-old Ross Miller was diagnosed with
Autism. After many assessments, Ross’s school district is providing occupational and music
therapy, but is unable to provide therapy to help Ross with socialization. As Ross’s parents, we feel that socialization skills are the key to a successful education and life, so we set out to find a program that would address these crucial skills.
We found it in the Son-Rise Program® through the Autism Treatment Center of America™. The Son-Rise Program teaches parents how to reach and engage their autistic children. This is done through a system of treatment and education designed to help families enable their children to dramatically improve in all areas of learning, development, and communication. It provides parents with techniques, strategies and principles to design, implement and maintain a stimulating, one-on-one, home-based program.
Ross is soaring! We now have six volunteers and are implementing
Son-Rise 30+ hours a week in our home. Ross is doing so well, we
are now fund raising to help us attend two more trainings, attain
outreach, and receive future consultations. We need to raise $17,000 to make it happen.
Now Ross is such a fun, happy little guy — but it didn't seem that way for a while. Ross would cry when strangers would try and say "hi" to him. He would cry if anyone new came to our home. He wasn't at all thrilled about birthday parties and family gatherings.
That was before Son-Rise! Since we have been implementing the program, we have seen such strides! Ross is saying "hello" to just about everyone he meets. Sometimes, he'll even state "I'm Ross!" Ross's vocabulary has increased dramatically and he is starting to ask questions, which he had never done before!
Ross loves to play play play! Which is why the Son-Rise Program is perfect for him! As you can see, one of his favorite characters is Willy Wonka, and he often dresses up as Willy and makes us blow up like a blueberry!
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our little website. We hope you like it and we hope to see you at our fund raisers!
